Many hospitals face a common challenge: where to store patients' personal belongings and valuables? Handling patient items can be difficult, particularly during emergencies or same-day surgeries without prior room check-ins. Currently, plastic bags are often used, which are neither sustainable nor particularly comfortable for patients.
Comfortable handling for nursing and patients
No logistics staff required
Reduced space requirements
Valuables stay close to the patient
Plastic bags do not offer a solution for hand luggage
Prone to failure (gets left behind / rips / theft)
Unattractive patient experience with transport on patient's legs
More manual effort required
Requires one logistician per patient and is therefore logistically unreasonable
Requires a lot of space
High process costs
More manual effort required
In collaboration with the Health Innovation Hub of Kantonsspital Baden
In collaboration with the Health Innovation Hub of Kantonsspital Baden (KSB), we are developing a superior solution: the reusable, high-quality ZippBag. This environmentally friendly bag can be used multiple times, offering an improved patient experience. Unlike single-use plastic bags, ZippBags can be cleaned and reprocessed in the laundry.
Whether a patient arrives at the hospital with a small suitcase for a planned surgery or is brought in unconscious by an ambulance, the ZippBag can accommodate their belongings. In addition to being washable, the ZippBag features a hook that allows it to be attached to a patient's bed, moving throughout the hospital with the patient. This design makes theft and loss of personal items more challenging, ensuring the storage of belongings is both safe and efficient.
Working alongside KSB, we are currently finalizing the ZippBag's design. True to Zippsafe's innovative spirit, we are also developing an application to digitize the processes involved in transporting patient items, potentially eliminating the need for a valuables protocol.
A pilot test is scheduled for spring 2023 in Baden, followed by the ZippBag's production launch. Please feel free to contact us for more information. We will keep you updated on the developments regardless.
*Please note that the material and design of the bag may differ from prototype images.
Contact us anytime. We will be pleased to inform you about the current development status of the ZippBag and discuss how this innovative product can facilitate the transport of patient items in your organization.
